Aviva Ironman 70.3 Singapore (short recap)

Just a short message, will try to post a full race report later this week in Dutch and English. For now I'll stick to a short recap of the day.

We started the swim at 7:35, because of wave starts I had some traffic during the swim. My swim form and awareness in the water is great at the moment. I swam over some people because they where in the way. After the two lap swim I was out in 34 minutes and some seconds. (It was a slow course if you look at the Professional swimtimes)

From the minute I hit the road on the bike I did not feel right, somehow my legs just did not fired the way they use to do. After two laps I decided that going for a 2 hour 25 minute bike time was better for the run. I always tend to go to fast on the bike because I feel confident on it.

After the bike I had a slow but good transition, I took some gatorade and applied some sunscreen. I hit the road and after 2K we went over a bridge and then the shade was gone. It was hot, man I had some hot races but this was by far the hardest. I ran 2 loops and after the third I ran with a woman which ran my tempo, we had a chat for 6K, the company was nice but I had to run for the finish. I outsprinted a Agegroup competitor in my Agegroup making me number three. 4 hours and 54 minutes, slow but not considering the humidity and hot weather this was all I could get out of my drained body.

I also managed to get a slot for the World Championships in Clearwater later this year! And a nice award which is always nice!

Thats it for now, pack the bike, grab a Corona and fly home tomorrow, how simple can life be?

See ya all around soon!
