Dear friends and family,
I reached the city of Cornerbrook on wednesday and did some training after checking into the hotel. The course looks really great and especially the bike part will be brutal. The hill overlooking Cornerbrook is killing but the thoughts of going down will make me fly up the hill. The weather over here is great with temperatures reaching 27 degrees Celsius. It makes training hard but it's good to get used to the terrain and the weather around Cornerbrook.
I trained some biking especially the hill overlooking Cornerbrook but because of all the traffic on the highway it was important to stay focused. Today I did a 1.9 kilometer swim in a relaxed tempo and everything looks good. I participated in the Cornerbrook Downtown Dash it's a 5K run around the city centre of Cornerbrook. I finished 12th wich was quitte good becaus I decided not to eat before the run wich almost made me stop running. Although I was low on sugar I was able to get a good results. i finished in 19 minutes and 4 seconds.
Besides all the training I checked in at the Race Hotel to get the numbers and stuff needed to do the Ironman 70.3. We (Athletes) all wear red wristbands so it's funny to see who's an athlete or not. Tomorrow I will do some more swimming and maybe some biking but I feel great both physical and mental wich is good. I've had some emails concerning my time to beat. Most honestely I would not make any predictions because the distance is new to me. There are some people who know me well and think a 4 hours and 30 minutes split wil be doable. I'd hope for 4 hours 50 minutes. Most important thing is to have a great day and the rest is bonus!
Sorry that I have no time to write the same report in Dutch, but as English is a universal language I'll guess everybody can read my report, if not i'll try to post a Dutch version tomorrow.
Bye for now,
Henry
